João S. Ribeiro is a PhD candidate at MERLN (Maastricht University, Netherlands) developing biofabricated in-vitro cardiac models that age realistically to improve drug testing and reduce animal use. He contributes to FAB4FUTURE, an AI multimodal biofabrication toolbox aimed at scalable, high-fidelity tissues for cardiovascular research and other living-material applications.
His experience in biotech spans iPSC-cardiac differentiation (ICRC St. Anne’s, Brno), senescence/angiogenesis projects, and microfluidic 3D cultures (i3S, Porto), alongside Python-based data analysis.
He is the current CEO & a co-founder of Braining, a medtech company using AI/VR to deliver adaptive, home-ready stroke rehabilitation. Here, he deepens his interest for personalized care, breaching standardized treatment for those in need.
As a speaker, he has been an invited speaker at universities and a prior TEDx event, where he shared his experience in entrepreneurship and science as a whole.
